APRIL


NINE DALES DERBYSHIRE

Planned finish time 5.30pm. Route: A610/A6. Toilets: Buxton. Park: Buxton


A WALK - Leader: Paul Walden - 13 miles (linear)

Route: Wye Dale, Chee Dale, Miller's Dale, Monk's Dale (view of*), Peters Dale,
Hay Dale, Dam Dale, Small Dale, Peak Dale, Daisymere Farm, Buxton

Terrain: Undulating, could be muddy. Refreshments at end

  1. *Anybody who wishes to walk Monk's Dale is welcome to, but I am informed that
    it is very difficult to walk. The led walk follows the Limestone Way which hits both ends of the dale


B WALK - Leader: Paul Wagstaff - 9 miles

Route: Taddington,  Chelmorton, Horseshoe Dale, Deep Dale, Brierlow Dale, Cowdale, Staden, Buxton

Terrain: Some climbs, sometimes rocky underfoot, cafes pubs and toilets at Buxton


C & SHORT C WALKS  - Lin Ng - 6-7 miles

Route: Steps from the visitors centre, then fairly easy walk up to Solomon's Temple. From there down to Dane Valley way, with a little road side walking.

Then across to Stanley Moor, skirting at the base of the moor, easy path up to Countess Cliff but can extend the walk by another mile by walking up to

Anthony Hill before coming back down to Countess Hill. Back across the road to Fern House Farm and walk along the base of Solomon's Temple before

returning to the visitors centre.    About 6 miles, could be 7.

Coaches: If sufficient advance bookings are not received it may be necessary to cancel a coach. Please help us to avoid this by booking (or cancelling) your seat as early as possible. If in doubt, contact the coach organiser. All coaches must be self-financing - they cannot be subsidised from RA Group funds. Prices may vary according to the distance travelled, but will be kept to the lowest possible economical price.

Youth Hostel weekends. Due to advance booking difficulties these may not be shown in the programme. If a hostel is planned, details will be circulated to interested members by the organiser.

MID WEEK WALK GRADINGS

In order to give some indication to walkers of what can be expected from a mid-week walk the following can be used as a guide

A = A challenging walk, up to 11-12 miles        B = Medium walk up to 8-9 miles           C = Less challenging walk
